If one of the things when you look for pubs in London is a solid reputation for live music and supporting pristine talent then the Bar Fly is the place for you.
Well known and respected both locally and on the national circuit the Bar Fly has a great habit of hosting upcoming talent just before they break it on the mainstream often alongside better known established acts. Previous evenings have seen the audience enchanted by a very young and slightly drug addled Russell Brand, guerrilla gigs by The Libertines and even a one of acoustic set from Clapton himself.

Get yourself to the Electricty Showrooms in Shoreditch. Greeting you with a river of lightbulbs in its funky entrance complete with revolving door, the place stays open late and can get a bit clubby and dancy towards the evening but during the day it is just as nice for a quite one.
Full of trendy trendsters and beautiful women, a good place to go if you’re on the prowl for some upper echelon romance with the alt girls of Hoxton. Grrr.

Departure is coffee shop/second hand book shop just down the road from Limehouse DLR and is one of my favourite find in London this year.
With stylish and inviting decor, friendly and interesting staff and brilliant roof terrace-garden to bask in the sun , it has just become my favourite coffee house.
Housed within the shop is a second hand bookshop with a fantastic range of literature. The Departure staff invite you to grab a book to read during your stay even if you don’t end up buying it.
